Diana Tremblay: Why She's Flopped As World Champion

Diana Tremblay: Why She's Flopped As World Champion

by Minerva Appleton

Festivus sellouts are coming later in the ticket cycle than ever. Festivus ratings have dropped by an average of 15% since Super Festivus. Fans are leaving early when Diana Tremblay is main eventing. They are flocking to the concession stands when she's in the ring any time prior to that. As soon as her music hits, sections of fans are turning their backs to her while she is being treated with dead silence. Ticket resale rates have gone up nearly 63% since she became the Festivus World Champion. Not even GCW Hall of Fame member Chantelle Chambers (who some would say has become exposed herself) has been enough.

So why has Diana Tremblay been such a flop as World Champion?

Why have fans rejected her? While it's true that she's meant to be hated, this goes far behind that. Fans, other wrestlers, and even some officials on the Festivus circuit have spoken out against her.

"Fans don't like fake..." general manager Candice Carter explained. "...our audience isn't stupid. They know she's not 'it'. They've known it from her never ending Shooting Star title reign that she's not it. The fans are rejecting her because they feel like she's a dime a dozen who brings nothing unique or special to the table."

"She is a horrible role model for young girls..." parents who attended last night's Festivus event stated. "...all she does is sell herself online to this sexual weirdo, sending him bikini and underwear pictures and much rather do that then promote the brand she's supposed to represent. She's teaching our daughters that to get ahead in life, you have to take your clothes off and show off your skin to random perverts."

"The fact of the matter is that Diana Tremblay isn't just the worst world champion in Festivus history, she's the worst world champion in the collective universe since the initial two seasons of 5BW..." noted wrestling historian Jake McMullan adds. "...ticket sales have slowed down, less people are watching, people are changing the channel and if you ask any wrestling fan that knows their stuff, hell if you even ask Victoria and Candice, they knew this was coming."

I personally had a quick rapid fire with the General Manager about Diana and why she hasn't materialized as the world champion Diana herself claimed she could be.

"How long have you known she wasn't it?

"When she lost to Clarissa Vega and threw a fit backstage over it and on social media."

"So you're saying she only cares to promote anything when it benefits her?"

"Exactly. She'd rather sell her body than sell recent happenings with Andrea Hernandez. What happened with the insult to her father's legacy and Andrea's arrest that played out was heated and the audience responded well to that. But did Diana (or Chantelle) for that matter make a peep about it? No. It was a huge let down and that's when we all know that her reign has jumped the shark."

"She actually benefitted from what you just described and she still didn't promote it..."

"That's what has people upset."

"What is the root of why Diana is strongly hated?"

"Diana has been overprotected, probably far more than anyone else on the roster. She has managed to be given so much for doing so little. The thing is, she's not that good. She's never been that good. She fancied herself as a main eventer when she's the only one in the room that thinks that and when it comes to what plays out on television, she either does nothing with it or promotes it in a way that's not even CLOSE to what played out on television. That's without mentioning we've had HOW many people that have been her type in this business that have done it WAY classier AND WAY better than she has?"

"Name an example with the 'promotion twisting'?"

"When she was constantly crying about being passed over for world title shots even though she had the Shooting Star title for as long as she had it and I came out and said "earn it by winning the battle royal" (at Festivus in Florida 5) and it was promoted as a 'conspiracy' and 'jumping through hoops' and me doing everything I could to hold her back even though Festivus has given her far more leeway and press than the other two shows combined and then it turned into the 'wrap the belt around my waist' bullshit."

"Post-title reign, where do you see her career trajectory?"

"She'll probably resolve her situation with Ginny Kayl, but beyond that? With the bridges she's burned on the other two shows? Her future is very bleak. I wouldn't be surprised if she defected to GCW by the end of Season 7."

"Why don't fans want to see Diana Tremblay?"

"Minnie, can you name me one special standout quality that she has that makes people want to buy tickets? Honestly."

"I have to be a professional and leave my opinions out of it."

"Prior to becoming employed by Festivus, whenever Festivus hit the Twin Cities, you were in attendance right?"

"Yes."

"You were at Mayhem in the Midwest when it was in Minneapolis, correct?"

"Yes, though Diana wasn't part of that show to be fair."

"Right, but a 5BW Pay-Per-View was ('The Quest where the main event was Casey Holliday defending against Nicole Peyton Turner and both members of A&B). Did you buy that ticket to watch Diana Tremblay wrestle?"

"No."

"Did you feel like she had anything special that made you want to see her? How about anything that made you hate her and buy into what she was doing?"

"I can't say I ever have in either instance."

"There you go. She's had more rope and more chances than almost everyone else yet she wants to bitch and cry about being passed up for opportunities. What the fuck do you call that year plus Shooting Star reign that... BY THE WAY... only lasted as long as it did because there was that fear of constant backstage bitching if she lost to the wrong person? Is that not an opportunity? Yet, when she GETS the chance that she has now, she blows it. She has blown this chance. Don't even get me started on her THOT countdown that she started rather than promoting her title defense against Chelsea LeClair. That's when the entire locker room was OUT on her. What a load of disrespect."

"What do you want to say to Festivus fans?"

"I'm sorry. I understand why you wouldn't want to see her because you all see that she has no redeeming value whatsoever. She's an absolute fraud and when that feud with Ginny Kayl is over, she'll be too. You can bet on that. Things will get better soon, I'm sure. I for one, am looking forward to when her reign ends and we can all put this behind us.
